What’s this? A second new beer release to tie in with the Milan-San Remo race that took place earlier on this month. We only just brought The Cipressa last week and now we’re following that one up with the speedy release of THE POGGIO!

poggio

The Poggio – Ice Cream Pale 5.0% abv beer has been brewed in celebration of the final climb of the season’s first one day race Milan San Remo. Ice Cream in a glass brings a little Italian sunshine to Blackheath brewhouse. Brewed with wheat, dextrin, lactose and infused with Madagascan vanilla pods, this creamy pale ale will have you dreaming of the Rivera sun.

We’ll have this one only available while stocks last. Available in keg only, want to get your hands on a keg or two? Then send us an email at beer@fixedwheelbrewery.co.uk

Cipressa – Our beer brewed in honour of “The Milan-San Remo”

When March rolls around the corner, it brings with it the prospect of warmer days and lighter mornings. Giving us the well-needed nudge to get back on our bikes and to enjoy a ride out with a celebratory beer or two along the way.

March also brings us the very first monument race of the season – The Milan-San Remo!

The race itself, although only lasting 1 day consists of the most action-packed, drama-filled, intense final few kilometres that any rider could ask for. This year’s race wasn’t an exception, with 26-year-old cyclist Julian Alaphilippe out-sprinting the firm favourites to take the 2019 victory.

There are two climbs in the Milan-San Remo that separate the boys from the men. With the first of these two legendary climbs known as the Cipressa. So guess what, we’ve only gone and brewed a monumental beer in honour of such a monumental climb!

Cipressa

We’ve set out to make a real zesty number to celebrate the first monument race of the year. The Cipressa is an orange sour, that’s packed with an explosion of flavours. We’ve crammed in a whole load of orange zest and tropical fruit flavours that completely take over your pallet.

Coinciding with the date of the race. We will be releasing our first Pro Season Special release of the year on the exact same date. You can catch the Cipressa on our bar this weekend for its first debut and will be up on the Bar at our Micropub The Wheelie Thirsty some time in the week.

Fancy getting yourself a Keg of Cipressa? Send us a message on beer@fixedwheelbrewery.co.uk

Our Blackheath Stout’s a winner!

Our award-winning Blackheath Stout is back at it again. Only this time it’s gone and won us our biggest award yet! On the 29th December 2018, our very own Blackheath Stout was awarded the prestigious title of the “SUPREME beer of the West Midlands 2018”.

Blackheath Stout

Back in November, our signature brew reached The finals of the champion beer competition held at the Dudley Winter Ales Fair. Since then all fingers and toes had been crossed that our very own Blackheath Stout could make it that one step further. The fact that we then went on to WIN, to say that we were ecstatic would be an understatement!

The stout in question has been a part of our core range now since we very first started back in the autumn of 2014. Brewed with both New Zealand and English hops to give it it’s signature oaky bitterness with a dark fruits finish. It’s been busy building up its repertoire of awards. As it’s previously won a bronze award in last years stout category of CAMRA’s Champion Winter Beer of Britain. So who knows what this little beauty has got in store for us next!

Blackheath Stout award

To win this award is a massive milestone for us as a Brewery. It’s such a fantastic way for us to kick-start 2019! For us to compete with such strong competition and to come out on top is a huge achievement. We all have really worked our butts off this past year and this achievement proves that all that hard work really does pay off.

All the Fixed Wheel team would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that’s voted for us. To all pubs, bars & bottle shops that have stocked many of our Fixed Wheel beers on their taps and to all who have shown their support over the last year through visiting our Brewery Taphouse in Blackheath. Also a big shout out to those who have stopped by for a drink at our Micropub in Lye. CAMRA, we would like to say a HUGE thank you to you all for your constant support and for thinking our Blackheath Stout is as great as we all think it is!

Blackheath Stout cask

Our Blackheath Stout will be available for all to try throughout the year as part of our core range. Catch it at both our Brewery Taphouse on the weekends. Or at our Micropub on Lye High Street. It’ll also be available to order all throughout the year in both keg and cask. If you would like to contact us to get an order placed. Just drop us an email on beer@fixedwheelbrewery.co.uk

As we haven’t got a web store up and running on our website yet, you can always find our Blackheath stout in Keg available to buy on EeBria Trade

Chain Makers Pale Ale

Are you having a Chain Makers Fish & Chip supper? Well, now you’ve also got a pale ale that will pair with it perfectly!

The recent collaboration with the local chippy focuses on bringing diversity and a wider choice of products to an area that is currently undertaking a much-needed regeneration process. With Chainmakers recently opening for business in August 2018, they’ve brought with them a breath of fresh air to the Colley Gate community and hopefully this will mark the start of only positive things to come to the local area.

After all, as a Black Country business ourselves, we want to see our streets and town centres thriving once again! With our recent opening of the Wheelie Thirsty Micropub on the Lye High Street, we understand the importance of bringing that spark of life back, one hopped beer at a time.

So we sat down and thought, what would go perfectly with a fresh bag of fish and chips on a cold autumnal evening … well, a pint of beer of course. And thus, the Chain Makers Pale Ale was born.

Chain Makers Pale Ale has been brewed with a whole load of English grown malted barley, hopped with English Admiral and American Cascade then fermented with our house yeast strain. This is a refreshingly light Pale Ale with a crisp finish to clean the pallet.

You’ll be able to pick up a bottle from The Chain Makers Fish & Chip shop as of the 1st of November!
